This dreamy Tuscan wedding is a reminder of all the things we love about the lush countryside of Italy and it’s also why we think it’s the perfect spot for couples to tie the knot. The Borjo Giusto villa provided the perfect setting for the organic yet beautifully elegant day. Understated florals and bunches of pampas grass brought out the romantic ambiance of the décor.
Borjo Giusto Wedding
How did you meet?
We met at a hometown bar. We both went to the same high school but Zach was a few years older than me so we never formally met until then. We talked for a while but didn’t exchange numbers and wound up bumping into each other again the following evening, he asked me for coffee the following day and the rest is history!
What is your proposal story?
It was a few days after Christmas, we were back at our apartment in Hoboken after visiting family and Zach’s sister was in town. The three of us hung at the apartment all day (literally in our pajamas), Zach suggested we take our dog Mattie for a walk all together. When we came home, I turned around to take the leash off of Mattie and he was down on one knee, our whole family had snuck into our guest bedroom while we were out and were there to surprise me after I said yes. I was so shocked the rest is a total blur! We spent the evening at one of our favorite restaurants in town with all of our loved ones.
Tell us a little a bit about your wedding.
We originally weren’t planning a destination wedding, but our very dear friend’s family owned a hotel in the Italian countryside. I never in my wildest dreams thought I could have a wedding there, but after pricing everything out stateside and discussing with our family we decided “when else would we have an opportunity to travel with all of our friends and family like this ever again?”. So we booked the venue before even going to visit! I wanted the vibe of the wedding to fit the beautiful surroundings, so we stuck with a rustic theme, natural elements and lots of dreamy pampas.
Tell us about your attire choices.
I went to school for Fashion Design, and my roommate and I always talked about how we would make each others wedding dresses one day. Flash forward and my roommate and very talented friend had started her own atelier and that dream actually came true! We worked together to bring the vision to life and I am so grateful for her, it was truly my dream wedding dress and the experience of designing my dress with my best friend was one I would never forget! For the guys, we wanted to keep things a little bit more casual, so we opted for blue suits with brown leather accents and suspenders.
What was the most important to the two of you while planning? Was there anything that you chose to splurge on or skip?
The experience for our guests, they were traveling so far to celebrate with us and I wanted to be certain it was a trip they would never forget. We planned activities for all of the five days of their stay so they always had something to do should they want to. Destination weddings are different in that way, its not just one day of planning but an entire experience.
What were your favorite parts of the day?
Oh, it’s so hard to choose, but I think walking up to our ceremony area and seeing my future husband at the end of that aisle surrounded by all of our family and friends. It was a real pinch-me moment, you spend so much time agonizing over every detail, and to see it all come together was nothing short of a dream! I just remember feeling so happy and so filled with love, it was our real-life fairytale.
Did you include any family heirlooms or special traditions?
We really wanted it to feel like our loved ones were a part of our ceremony. Our love for our friends and family makes up so much of who we are as a couple! We did a passing of the rings at the beginning of our ceremony, where each guest “blesses” the rings before we say our vows.
Do you have any advice for couples planning their weddings now?
Have fun with it and don’t sweat over the little things. At the end of the day, it’s about the two of you and the love you have for one another, the rest is just an added bonus!
