Tale as old as time, true as it can be… – Mrs. Potts
There are two reasons I am so excited about this next featured wedding. Number one, it’s Disney themed, which is enough to get my heart skipping a beat. Second, If you ever wanted proof that you should invest in a amazing photographer – keep reading.
Brittany & Derek got engaged at Disney World in front of Cinderella’s castle and Brittany was even dressed as Cinderella. So, its no surprise they had a Beauty and the Beast themed wedding.
They were on a tight budget, so they decided to get creative and DIY whatever they could. The ceremony was held inside at the Mount Airy Mansion since it was a rainy day. Gold chairs lined the ceremony space, accompanied by rustic chalk board signs. A white arbor was set up at the end of the aisle, which was draped with faux white flowers. The ceremony space was filled with twinkling lights and guests enjoyed the scenic backdrop of the lush greenery that surrounded the mansion.
The reception featured lots of special Beauty and the Beast, and Disney touches. Tables were lined with pink table linens and center pieces consisted of gold antique tea pots, candelabras, clocks, spray painted gold books and the iconic glass dome with the enchanted rose that is featured in the Disney film. All of the table décor that was featured was second hand or found in thrift stores. The cake was pink and white and topped with a Mickey and Minnie wedding cake topper that the couple picked up at a local thrift store.
Before we continue with the photos. I need to take this opportunity to give Ashton Kelly Photography a shout out. She is one of those “extremely rare, whatever it takes to get the perfect shot” kind of photographers.
It rained non-stop throughout Brittany & Derek’s entire wedding day. They decided to sneak out of their reception with Ashton to get some photos in the rain. Brittany was wearing heels and was surely going to sink. Ashton graciously gave her flats to Brittany and shot their portraits barefoot in the rain & wet grass.
Now, you are probably reading this article because you are looking for wedding advice and inspiration. Here is my advice to you while researching a photographer, ask them if they will walk barefoot in the mud for you. If they wont, then keep looking…
On to the beautiful pictures – get ready to swoon over the Disney delightfulness.
XOXO

Brittany and Derek were able to get ready on site, using a few of the many suites that Mount Airy Mansion has to offer. The girls prepared upstairs, while the guys prepped downstairs. Brittany and her bridesmaids sported matching robes, and she gifted them with self-made “Beauty and the Beast” detailed hangers. Derek and the groomsmen selected classic black tuxes for the affair.
They say rain on your wedding day is good luck. Brittany and Derek received a lot of luck on their wedding day! The ceremony took place inside an intimate room with lots of window light. The lush greenery of the mansion’s campus showed through, creating a pretty backdrop for their main event. Derek was all smiles as his bride approached him, and Brittany’s eyes glimmered with happy tears.
As mentioned before, the theme of the day had many Beauty and the Beast elements. Brittany worked tediously on her details, creating a DIY wedding dream. She collected vintage pieces, assembled her own centerpieces, and infused her love for Disney throughout the decor. The bridal gown was even part of the Alfred Angelo Disney collection!
