Then at Gouveia Vineyards the couple effortlessly transitioned to more casual outfits to enjoy the gorgeous sunset.
From the bride: When I first met Jerry it was the Fall of 2010 at the University of Connecticut. We were both early to our class, so we stood outside the lab door waiting for it to open. We engaged in some small talk and introduced ourselves to each other, so when we were finally let in, we decided to sit across from each other and continue our conversation. We ended up being lab partners for the rest of the semester. Since we were both in the same Medical Technology program, the next semester we had class together every day for 8 hours. Since I had developed a secret crush on him, I was glad to see him so much every day. We always talked about our weekends and since we both partied a good amount, we both ended up thinking ‘oh man, how can I keep up with him / her?’ Eventually, we learned that although we both like to go out and have a good time, sometimes we also like to relax at home. During class, we talked about traveling the world and taking as many trips as possible before starting a family. We definitely didn’t waste time because three months into our relationship we took our first vacation on a cruise to Bermuda. It was beautiful and so much fun. I loved getting dressed up for dinner; it was like date night every night! After dinner, Jerry would always show off his dance moves when we went dancing. And boy does he have moves! In the 5 and a half years since we’ve started dating, we’ve traveled all over the world together; from Mexico to Montreal and Greece and Vietnam to meet his and my family. I’m so excited to marry my soul mate, my best friend, and the love of my life.You’re mine. I’m yours. Together the world is ours.
The proposal: Since we heard so many great things about North Carolina, we planned a week-long road trip to Raleigh and the Outer Banks. When we arrived at the Outer Banks, I thought it’d be cute to grab dinner and watch the sunset together. Even though it was quite windy on the beach, we went anyways. I wasn’t worried about getting cold; I knew Jerry would keep me warm.The sunset was breathtaking. While taking a few shots of the scenery on camera, Jerry asked me if I wanted to go dip my feet in the water, even though he knew I would turn it down. Jerry ended up going by himself. I was still taking pictures when he started to walk back towards me. All of a sudden he gets down on one knee pulls his hand out of his pocket, and says to me “Take a picture of ‘this.'” In his hand was this amazingly beautiful ring. I was so surprised. I looked at it and said, “OMG, what is that?!” I was so shocked that I couldn’t remember what he said to me. All I know is he asked and of course, I said yes! Now that I look back no wonder he kept asking about his jacket the whole trip! He had the ring in his jacket pocket the entire time!
