Gorgeous Fall Wedding At Crystal Lake In CT

From the photographers:  Alicia and Mat tied the knot under a canopy of pine trees at the Pavilion on Crystal Lake in southern CT. While the sun set behind them, they read their own vows to each other as we documented the happy tears that followed. We loved that Mathew played such a huge role in the DIY details of the day. He made the painted tree guestbook, built the seating chart set-up and table numbers, and made all of the outdoor signs. Alicia loved to smile and scrunch up her face and say, “He just so crafty!”.  It’s refreshing to see a groom take on a design role in the details. Mat really gave the wedding a woodsy and handmade feel!

From the Bride:  When Mathew and I first started dating, my sister and her (now) fiancé were living in Burlington, Vermont. Always up for an adventure Mathew and I took one of our first weekend trips together to visit them, and just fell in love with Vermont and each other. (Sorry, had to, haha.) We visit Vermont several times a year because we love the mountains… and good beer.It was only fitting that we got engaged in Vermont. For our two year anniversary we decided to head to Burlington, VT for their annual Brewers Festival. Mathew told me that as a part of the trip he had planned some special surprise activities for the day. He drove me to the top (yeah, we cheated and didn’t hike) of Mount Philo in Charlotte, VT which overlooks the Adirondacks, Lake Champlain, and of course Burlington. He proposed at the edge of the mountain. His Mom and sister were standing by to capture photos of the big moment and then we celebrated with (a lot of) beer, naturally.Our advice to planning a similar wedding: don’t wait until the last two weeks before your wedding to decide to start and finish all your DIY projects… J But really, the details matter, they make the day! So go ahead and spend the extra time on them. Our favorite part of our wedding day were the vows. We were so glad we decided to write our own, they were so special and we will never forget those moments. Also, just seeing our friends and family having so much fun.
