Outdoor Shabby Chic Wedding In Georgia

A charming outdoor shabby chic wedding featuring lilac and gray.

From the Bride:

Q: Tell us about your wedding! What was the inspiration behind your day? Did you have a specific theme, style or color palette? Did you incorporate any cultural or religious traditions in any part of your day?

A: We found out that gray and lilac were good colors for us when we first started looking at wedding color palettes. We just wanted the day to be special. We did not incorporate any religious traditions to our wedding.

Q: Let’s talk wedding decor. How did you decorate your space for the ceremony and the reception? Was any part of the decor DIY?

A: We did not use anything DIY but we did use many antiques. The centerpieces, glasses, and plates were all antiques.

Q: What were the florals like in your wedding? Did you use flowers in any of your design elements like the bridal bouquets, centerpieces or ceremony backdrop? Did they play an important part in the overall style of your wedding?

A: The florals were simple. We did not want something too powerful and extravagant. We used flowers in a bridal bouquet and in the centerpieces and that was it.

Q: Did you personalize the day in any way (food trucks, guest entertainment etc.)? What were some of your favorite parts of your wedding?

A: We had many vendors at the wedding. My favorite part from my wedding was our first dance; you never truly know how much somebody means to you until you marry your best friend.

Q: Let’s talk fashion. How did you choose your wedding day look? How did the groom? Describe both looks in detail.

A: We tried to be simple for our wedding day so I wore a lacy princess dress will my hair and make-up casual and my husband wore a gray suit with a vest instead of a jacket.

Q: How did you meet? Tell us about the proposal.

A: Well let’s see I met my husband when I was in elementary school, my mom and his sister were best friends so I was always at the family gathering and stuff like that. I moved to Griffin, GA in 7th grade and we kind of fell off, I started coming to see his sister every other weekend so we connected once again. One day I am sitting on Facebook and I get a message from Drake and were having a simple and casual conversation. He then asked me if I would go to prom with him and let’s just say on the other side of the computer I’m completely freaking out and screamed. I calmly wrote sure I’d love too, so the months go by and I’m out looking for a dress and I keep asking what color do you want to wear and he would always say “I don’t care it’s up to you”. I chose a beautiful purple dress that had fuchsia pink, blue and white in it. Prom day rolled around and we got ready and went together had a blast but something about that night made me realize how crazy I was about him. After prom I went home and started coming down every other weekend, we were back and forth for 4 years when finally we made the decision to move in together and start a relationship. Now we are married with a handsome baby boy and I would not trade the back and forth relationships or anything in this world.

Q: What was the most anticipated or special moment of your wedding day?

A: I think that the most special moment on my wedding day was walking down the aisle and seeing the love he had for me. Seeing his eyes fill with tears broke my heart (in a good way).

Q: Do you have any wedding planning or marriage advice that you’d like to share with other couples planning their day?

A: I have a few things I would like to give to people on their wedding day. 1st thing is I would say don’t go all out on your wedding day it literally lasts 3 hours and it’s over with. 2nd thing is to save money or even ask for money for your honeymoon and spend a week away enjoying your new life as husband and wife. 3rd thing is to spend the money for a photographer (get pictures done how you imagine it. your wedding day deserves pictures on how your magical day went.
