1940s Wedding Ideas
Get ready for a healthy dose of vintage inspired 1940s wedding ideas with an aviation twist!
The color palette for this styled wedding was completely designed around a 1940’s Piper Cub Plane, which also makes an appearance in the shoot! The bright yellow plane inspired a wedding day color palette of pastel yellow, blue and pink. The vintage rustic style of the styled wedding was also up-leveled with the use of design elements such as antique china, soft patterned linens, and a tea length wedding dress. Antique style lounge furniture was brought in to create a more cozy and intimate setting. Special design pieces used in this vintage-inspired 1940s styled wedding include a vintage leather jacket, a blue antique train case, and a custom-created hat that was replicated by the styles seen in the 40s!
True to the era, the bride wore a tea-length wedding gown with ruffle detail and a bright bold red lip! The bride’s hairstyle also gave nod to a popular hairstyle of the 1940s with her hair in an upturned ‘victory roll’ and soft waves at the side.
A lofty wedding cake was designed with the aviation-theme in mind. The bottom and third layer of the cake both depict a map, with the alternating layers done in solid colors of cream and cornflower blue. A chalkboard style globe was hand-calligraphed with ‘our adventure begins’ and displayed beside the blue antique train case and luggage tag style escort cards!
