A Stunning William Aiken House Wedding
Classic and a whole lot of Hollywood glam is the perfect way to describe Jennifer and Griffin’s historic Charleston wedding at The William Aiken House. Deep emerald, gold accents and crystal chandeliers set the tone for the backdrop of this event. The William Aiken House lends itself to an old Hollywood mansion vibe so the tabletop elements with gold trim, over flowing florals and candlelight were the perfect fit. For the reception, dancing under the stars and cafe lighting with crystal chandeliers was the perfect backdrop for this very chic couple.
Jennifer’s intricately beaded Pronovias gown was absolutely exquisite. It featured a v-cut back and front with a stunning scalloped train. Emerald green was the color of the day and was reflected in the art deco styled invitations and accessories. The bride’s three stone emerald earrings also tied into the theme.
In true old hollywood fashion, Jennifer’s hair was styled in long and luxurious glam waves paired with her vivid red lips!
Griffin also brought on the charm with his richly colored emerald green velvet jacket featuring black lapels and matching bow tie! The inside was lined with gold satin and customized with their wedding date in roman numerals on the back of his collar and G&J on the side of his jacket with a gold cursive J on the front of his jacket.
Before the festivities of the day began, the couple shared an epic first look where Jennifer met Griffin as he waited patiently for his bride. The look on his face and emotion says its all.
When it came to decor, the goal was Great Gatsby without the feathers, they wanted their guests to feel as if they were at the couples home at a super fancy black tie event! While they were planning, the most important elements were lighting and food. They wanted many chandeliers outside to light up the night on the white and black checkered dance floor. Instead of going overboard with florals they decided candles created the romantic, elegant ambiance they were looking for and fit them best as a couple.
In the areas that they did add florals, they used white garden roses and greenery. The bride’s bouquet was the only bouquet with lilies which are her favorite. The center pieces were high gold vases with lilies and roses and pearls for that old Hollywood, vintage, elegant feel.
The wedding cake was 3 layers topped with butter cream icing. Each layer had a different flavor, the bottom layer was banana cake with Nutella, the 2nd layer was chocolate cake with salted caramel, and the very top layer was chocolate cake with peanut butter. The outside of the cake was detailed and ornate with a big F in the middle representing the couple’s last name Ferrigan. The topper was gold glitter cursive writing that read Jennifer & Griffin.
When asked if she had any advice for couples planning their day, Jennifer had an amazing response that we wanted to share:
“Our greatest advice would be to book a date ASAP and lock in all your most important vendors fast like hair, makeup, dj, and photographer/videographer being the most important 2. Also, I would definitely recommend an engagement no longer than 1 year. The planning process will take over your life and bring so many family and friendship issues to the table. It is best to have a shorter planning process so that bullshit can be kept to a minimum and you can focus on the important part which is WHAT YOU AND THE GROOM WANT. It is your day. Also it is a fact that at the end of the day, the bride and groom will do whatever is right and feels good to them so do not try to please everyone, you wont and you’ll waste effort trying to. Those who love you most will stand by you and support you and what you want for this one in a lifetime incredible day where you get to celebrate you and your future partner and have an amazing start to your new life together.”
